Advanced English Course

You wish to communicate with colleagues or clients in English more confidently, or you are attending a university-level English course.

Pre-Course Writing Assessment Minimum Test Score: B2 

5x 10-week blocks

Tuesdays:  19:00 – 20:30

  • 5, 12, 2, 19, 26 October 2021
  • 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 November 2021
  • 7 December 2021

Study + Interactive Communication: Students will apply what they have studied through relevant, interactive in-class discussions with feedback offered by the teacher during or after each activity. 

Homework: 1-1.5 hours per week  

At the end of each 10-week semester, students should feel ready to push forward to learning more.

By the end of the 50-week course, participants should feel confident to work in an English-speaking team or attend university courses provided in English.

English for HR & Recruiters

You are or wish to be a Human Resource professional or recruiter. It is important for you to practice candidate interviewing skills, contract negotiations and/or onboarding situations in English.

Go step-by-step through the candidate vetting and selection process. Complete interactive exercises to hone skills required to hire professionally in English.

Read and write job descriptions based on meeting decisions made during a role play.

Write response e-mails and prepare candidate comparison reports to share with line managers. 

Feel more at ease and confident when dealing with candidates, colleagues or other HR professionals in spoken and written form.

Verb Tense Training

You need more guidance on using various tenses you have learned about but need to understand more fully.

The course will cover differences between the following verb tenses:

  • Present Simple and Present Continuous 
  • Past Simple and Present Perfect Simple
  • Present Perfect Simple and Continuous Forms
  • Similarities between verb tense formations and uses: all simple and all continuous forms

Speak and write more accurately by applying self-correction and proofreading techniques learned.

2022 Summer

Full Immersion Course

You are looking for a unique way to immerse yourself in English all day long with native speakers without traveling abroad.

The course is designed after discussing with your teacher about your learning style, interests and what you would like to achieve. 

3 to 6 hours a day; 1- 10 consecutive days

*Choose 1 or more days between 15 July – 30 August to spend speaking, listening, reading, writing, sharing lunch and being outside and doing cultural activities with a native English speaker.

Times: 9:00 – 15:00 or 12:00-18:00

Students itching to be pushed out of their comfort zone to speak English all day will do just that with an experienced English teacher from Boston.  

Topics will be tailored according to the interests of the students : whether that be their hobbies, current events and/or work topics.

Students will develop their communication skills and feel more confident expressing themselves on holiday, meeting native speakers and with colleagues at work.

Important To Note:

Learning English is not just about studying a subject to get a job or a diploma.  It is a powerful means to express yourself.

This means sharing your ideas, opinions, and experiences with others who may not speak your own language.

At The Boston School, we feel energized when we can help our students develop their unique voice in English. 

Here are what you can expect for all group courses offered through The Boston School:

Attendance Certificate:

An attendance certificate is issued provided you:

  • Attend at least 70% of course
  • Complete at least 70% of all assignments

A test score shall be added to the attendance certificate if you score 70% or higher on a presentation, project or mock test you have chosen as a tangible end-of-course goal to reach.

Minimum number of attendees: 2
 
Location:

The Boston School has the possibility to rent rooms in Oerlikon and Uster or to teach from the student’s home.  

Course description and location will be confirmed at least 1 week prior to its start.

Full immersion courses can also be conducted online, but it is recommended to schedule a maximum of 3 hours per day, in this case.

Course Costs:

Costs are based on the total number of class hours and varies according to class size:

  • 2 or 3 participants: CHF 60.00/hour/student  
  • 4 or more participants: CHF 50.00/hour/student
  • Full-immersion private student rates possible*
Payment Due:

Payment is due in full after a one-hour free trial lesson and a full need analysis completed
